What the Sidekick Is
The My Medic Sidekick IFAK pouch
is a compact individual first aid kit built to carry everyday medical supplies
and serious bleeding-control gear in one grab-and-go package. It comes in two
levels—Standard and Pro—and four colors (Red, Black, Coyote, Green). The
Standard level covers routine injuries; the Pro level adds the trauma items
that matter when bleeding becomes serious. Built on durable Cordura nylon with
a laser-cut MOLLE and Velcro front panel, it rides on a pack, a vehicle
headrest, a range bag, or a belt line.
What It Is — and What It Isn't
This is a personal, single-user
IFAK designed to be carried and deployed fast. It is not a full medic bag or a
substitute for professional care. The Standard level is everyday first aid; the
Pro level is trauma-capable but still compact, not a complete TCCC loadout (no
NPA or splint included). Choose the level that matches your risk and your
training.
Why It Works
Speed and organization are the
whole point of an IFAK. The Sidekick's tear-away panel separates the medical
core in a single motion, so you're not fighting buckles while seconds count.
Inside, a folding-page layout keeps supplies visible and grouped, which is the
difference between finding gear fast and dumping a pouch on the ground. The Pro
level pairs that layout with a RATS® tourniquet, Celox® hemostatic granules,
compressed gauze, and a 4″ × 36″ emergency pressure bandage for direct bleeding
control.
What You Get (Pro level)
Bleeding control: RATS®
tourniquet, Celox® hemostatic granules, compressed gauze, 4″ × 36″ pressure
bandage. Wound care: SuperSkin™ assorted bandages, ZZIPS™ wound-closure
devices, blister strips. Burn and topical: burn gel, triple antibiotic
ointment, antiseptic wipes, and common OTC medications. Survival add-ons: space
blanket, hydration packets, and water-purification tablets. The Standard level
includes the everyday-care items without the dedicated trauma components.
How to Use It
Stage the Sidekick where you'll
actually reach it—truck, pack, or bag. Learn the layout before you need it:
open it, identify each section, and know where your bleeding-control items
live. Keep the tear-away panel accessible. After any use, refill what you
opened so the kit is always ready. Pair the gear with hands-on training so your
skills match your supplies.
Objection Busters
“Isn't this just a boo-boo kit?”
The Standard level handles everyday injuries, but the Pro level is built for
serious bleeding with a tourniquet, hemostatic, and pressure bandage. “Is the
gear legit?” The Pro level uses recognized components—RATS® tourniquet and
Celox® hemostatic—not anonymous filler. “I'm not trained.” Basic first aid and
Stop the Bleed–style training are strongly recommended; the kit is built to
support trained hands. “Will I actually carry it?” That's the design
goal—compact enough for EDC, with MOLLE and a metal clip so it stages where you
need it.
Who It's For
EDC carriers who want trauma
capability without bulk, overlanders and hunters operating where EMS is
delayed, shooters and range-goers who want bleeding control on hand, off-duty
LEO and military wanting a personal pouch, and families building a vehicle or
go-bag kit.
Carry It Solo or Layer It In
The Sidekick works on its own or clips onto a larger My Medic MyFAK® as
an on-the-move extension of a bigger setup—an easy entry point that grows with
your loadout. The right kit matters. Knowing how to use it matters more.
Prepared, not paranoid.
FAQs
How is this different from the MyFAK Mini?
The Sidekick is slimmer and flatter — it's designed primarily for bleeding control and daily carry rather than full medical coverage. The Mini has a broader supply set including fracture care, more MOD categories, and more total items. Use the Sidekick when you need something that disappears onto a belt or bag; use the Mini when you want more coverage.
Can this work as a standalone kit?
Yes — it covers the immediate life-threat priorities: arterial bleeding, wound packing, pressure dressing, burns, and common injuries. It's not a replacement for a full kit in a staged location, but it's a solid standalone for everyday carry.
Is this HSA/FSA eligible?
Yes. Pay with your HSA or FSA card at checkout.
What does Celox do?
Celox hemostatic granules accelerate clotting on contact with blood, helping control moderate to severe bleeds that don't respond to direct pressure alone. Celox is included in the Pro kit only.
