If You Only Remember This…

  • Home and vehicle emergency kits cover the two locations where most preparedness shortcomings show up — your house when the power's out and your vehicle when you're stranded
  • Home kits emphasize sustained capability (food, water, sanitation, comfort); vehicle kits emphasize compact rapid-access readiness (trauma, jumper, mechanical, signaling)
  • Choose based on your environment, household size, and the specific scenarios most likely to affect you (storms, accidents, breakdowns, evacuations)

What Are Home & Vehicle Emergency Kits?

Home and vehicle emergency kits are paired preparedness systems for the two locations where most people spend most of their time. Home kits handle extended power outages, hurricanes, blizzards, and shelter-in-place scenarios. Vehicle kits handle accidents, breakdowns, weather-related stranding, and roadside trauma response.

Together, they form the foundation of household preparedness — ready for both "stay put" and "on the road" emergencies.

What's Inside This Collection

  • ViTAC Home First Aid Kit — comprehensive household kit covering everyday and emergency injuries
  • ViTAC Vehicle First Aid Kit — compact vehicle-ready kit sized for glove boxes and center consoles
  • Vehicle Trauma Response Kits — advanced car kits with bleeding control supplies for serious roadside trauma
  • Home emergency systems — extended-capability kits for hurricanes, blizzards, and grid-down scenarios

How to Choose Home & Vehicle Kits

1. Build the Two-Kit Foundation First
Most prepared families benefit from a primary home kit and a primary vehicle kit before adding specialized gear. Cover the basics in both locations first.

2. Match Capability to Risk
Hurricane country: home kits with extended food and water, vehicle kits ready for evacuation. Cold climates: vehicle kits with thermal blankets, hand warmers, and winter survival components. Remote driving: vehicle kits with mechanical (jumper, tire, tow) and trauma capability.

3. Don't Skip Vehicle Trauma Capability
The leading cause of preventable death after vehicle accidents is uncontrolled bleeding. A vehicle trauma kit with a tourniquet, hemostatic gauze, and pressure dressing belongs in every car — not just in your driveway.

4. Consider Storage & Access
Vehicle kits should fit your storage location and tolerate temperature extremes (heat in summer, freezing in winter). Home kits should be accessible to all family members, not buried in a basement closet.

5. Plan Annual Maintenance
Inspect both kits annually. Rotate batteries, check water and food expiration, replace any used items, and update for seasonal needs (cold-weather supplies in winter, sun and water in summer).

Who These Kits Are For (And Who They're Not For)

This is for you if: You're building basic household preparedness, want vehicle-based readiness for accidents and weather, or are filling gaps in your home and travel coverage.

This may not be for you if: You're looking for tactical/duty kits (see Tactical Medical Kits) or extended grid-down preparedness (see weekly/monthly food and water systems).

Ready to Cover Both Locations?

Browse the collection below for paired home and vehicle solutions. Every kit is veteran-curated and built for real-world emergencies.
