What Is Massive Hemorrhage?
Massive hemorrhage is severe, uncontrolled bleeding from a traumatic injury — the kind that can cost a life within minutes if not addressed. In tactical and emergency medicine, it's the "M" in MARCH (Massive hemorrhage, Airway, Respiration, Circulation, Hypothermia) — the first priority for a reason.
Common causes include penetrating wounds, severe lacerations, blast injuries, motor vehicle trauma, and industrial accidents. The supplies in this collection are designed to address each one, used by tactical medics, military personnel, law enforcement, EMS, and trained civilians for rapid bleeding control before EMS arrival.

How to Choose the Right Hemorrhage Control Supplies
1. Match the Tool to the Wound
Tourniquets work on extremity arterial bleeding (arms, legs). Hemostatic gauze handles deep wounds, junctional injuries (neck, groin, axilla), and wounds where tourniquets can't be applied. Pressure dressings provide controlled compression for venous and capillary bleeding.
2. Consider Training Level
Tourniquets and pressure dressings can be applied with Stop the Bleed®-level training. Hemostatic gauze takes practice to pack effectively. Choose tools you can deploy correctly under stress.
3. Verify Component Quality
Stick with proven name brands: CAT® Gen 7 (the windlass tourniquet most agencies standardize on), QuikClot® Combat Gauze (the most-tested hemostatic), and Israeli or NAR® pressure dressings.
4. Build Redundancy
Carry at least two tourniquets per person if your environment justifies it. Hemostatic gauze and pressure dressings should be paired — they work together for wounds tourniquets can't address.
5. Plan for Storage & Expiration
Most components have 3–5 year shelf lives when stored cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight. Inspect annually and rotate before expiration.
