Our Mission.

We've been downrange. We know what it costs to be unprepared. ViTAC was built by U.S. Army Special Operations veterans to make sure the people who run toward the threat — and the families who depend on them — have gear that works when everything is on the line.

Trusted by Law Enforcement & Tactical Professionals

Add'l Info
  • Bleeding control gear stops preventable death from severe hemorrhage—tourniquets, hemostatic agents, and pressure dressings are the core tools
  • Choose your kit based on environment (vehicle, backcountry, duty), number of patients, and skill level—from basic grab-and-go packs to multi-casualty systems
  • All ViTAC bleeding control products are field-tested, premium-grade supplies trusted by professionals and prepared civilians alike

What Is Bleeding Control & Why It Matters

Bleeding control refers to the immediate interventions used to stop life-threatening hemorrhage before professional medical help arrives. Severe bleeding from traumatic injury is the leading cause of preventable death in both civilian and tactical environments. The right bleeding control supplies—applied quickly and correctly—can mean the difference between life and loss.

This collection includes tourniquets, hemostatic gauze, pressure dressings, chest seals, and complete trauma kits designed to address major hemorrhage in seconds. Whether you're outfitting a patrol vehicle, building a backcountry med kit, or preparing your home for emergencies, these are the tools that save lives when every second counts.

What's Inside This Collection

Our bleeding control category spans individual first aid kits (IFAKs), multi-patient response systems, refill packs, and standalone components. You'll find:

  • Windlass tourniquets (CAT® Gen 7, SOF®-T Wide) for extremity hemorrhage
  • Hemostatic gauze (QuikClot®, CELOX™, ChitoGauze® PRO) to pack and clot junctional wounds
  • Pressure dressings (Israeli Emergency Bandage, H&H Compression Bandage) for controlled direct pressure
  • Vented chest seals (HyFin®, Bolin®) for penetrating thoracic trauma
  • Complete trauma kits ranging from compact EDC pouches to backpack-sized multi-casualty systems
  • Refill and resupply packs to restock after training or deployment

Every product is selected for reliability, ease of use under stress, and compliance with TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) or civilian Stop the Bleed® standards.

How to Choose the Right Bleeding Control Kit

Not all kits are built for the same mission. Use these criteria to narrow your selection:

1. Environment & Mounting
Vehicle kits mount to headrests or center consoles for instant access. Backcountry kits are lightweight, rip-away, and MOLLE-compatible. Marine kits use waterproof hard cases. EDC kits fit on belts or in glove boxes.

2. Number of Patients
Solo IFAKs treat one person. Multi-patient kits (Crisis Response, MediTac) contain supplies for 4+ casualties and are ideal for schools, offices, or range safety officers.

3. Skill Level & Training
Basic kits include tourniquet + pressure dressing. Intermediate adds hemostatic gauze and chest seals. Advanced/professional kits include airway tools, decompression needles, and junctional tourniquets—best for trained responders.

4. Core Components
At minimum, look for a windlass tourniquet (CAT® or SOF®-T) and a pressure dressing. Hemostatic gauze is critical for wounds tourniquets can't address (neck, groin, abdomen). Chest seals are essential if penetrating trauma is a risk.

5. Packaging & Deployment Speed
Vacuum-sealed packs are compact and shelf-stable. Rip-away pouches open in one motion. Hard cases protect contents but add bulk. Choose based on how fast you need access.

6. Refill vs. Complete System
If you already have a pouch or bag, refill kits (SIRK™, Bleeding Control Zip Pack) let you restock core supplies without redundant packaging.

Who This Collection Is For (And Who It's Not For)

This is for you if:
You're a first responder, outdoor professional, range safety officer, school administrator, or prepared citizen who wants reliable, field-tested trauma gear. You understand that bleeding control is a perishable skill and you're committed to training. You need supplies that work under stress, in adverse conditions, and without second chances.

This may not be for you if:
You're looking for basic adhesive bandages or everyday first aid (see our General First Aid collection instead). You're seeking medical-grade hospital equipment or prescription items. You want gear that requires no training—effective bleeding control demands practice and confidence.

Why ViTAC Bleeding Control Gear

  • Veteran-owned, field-tested credibility: Every product is vetted by professionals who've used this gear in real-world scenarios
  • Premium components only: We stock CAT® Gen 7, QuikClot®, HyFin®, and other trusted brands—no knockoffs or unproven alternatives
  • Mission-specific curation: Kits are purpose-built for vehicle, backcountry, law enforcement, K-9 handler, and mass-casualty contexts
  • Education-first approach: We believe gear without training is just expensive weight—our content and support help you use it correctly
  • Compliance-ready: Products align with TCCC guidelines, Stop the Bleed® protocols, and OSHA/workplace safety recommendations where applicable

FAQs: Bleeding Control Kits & Supplies

Q: What's the difference between a tourniquet and hemostatic gauze?
A: A tourniquet stops arterial bleeding in arms or legs by cutting off blood flow entirely. Hemostatic gauze is used for wounds you can't tourniquet—like the neck, groin, or abdomen—by packing the wound and accelerating clot formation. Both are critical and serve different roles.

Q: How do I know which bleeding control kit is right for me?
A: Start with your environment (vehicle, backcountry, home, duty belt) and the number of people you need to treat. A solo IFAK works for personal carry, while a Crisis Response Kit is built for schools or offices. If you're untrained, start with a basic kit (tourniquet + pressure dressing) and commit to a Stop the Bleed® course.

Q: Do these kits expire or require maintenance?
A: Most components have 3–5 year shelf lives when stored properly (cool, dry, out of direct sunlight). Tourniquets and chest seals are single-use and should be inspected annually for packaging integrity. Hemostatic gauze has printed expiration dates. We recommend rotating stock and using expired items for training.

Q: Can I use these supplies without medical training?
A: Tourniquets and pressure dressings can be applied by laypeople with minimal instruction, and Stop the Bleed® courses teach these skills in 60–90 minutes. Hemostatic gauze and chest seals require more confidence and practice. We strongly recommend training before relying on any trauma gear in an emergency.

Q: What's included in a "basic" vs. "advanced" bleeding control kit?
A: Basic kits include a tourniquet and pressure dressing—the minimum to address extremity hemorrhage. Intermediate kits add hemostatic gauze and chest seals for broader trauma coverage. Advanced kits include airway tools, decompression needles, junctional tourniquets, and supplies for multiple patients or prolonged care scenarios.

Q: Are these kits legal to own and carry?
A: Yes. Bleeding control supplies are legal to own and carry in all 50 states. Some workplaces, schools, and venues actively encourage or require them. There are no prescription requirements for tourniquets, hemostatic gauze, or chest seals.

Q: How should I store my bleeding control kit?
A: Store in a cool, dry location away from extreme heat or freezing temperatures. Vehicle kits should be secured but accessible (headrest mount, center console, trunk). Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can degrade packaging and elastic components. Check your kit every 6–12 months.

Q: What's the difference between QuikClot, CELOX, and ChitoGauze?
A: All three are hemostatic agents that accelerate clotting. QuikClot® uses kaolin (a mineral), CELOX™ uses chitosan (derived from shellfish), and ChitoGauze® PRO also uses chitosan with a different gauze weave. All are proven effective; choice often comes down to agency protocol, allergy considerations (CELOX for shellfish-sensitive patients), or personal preference.
