If You Only Remember This…

  • Basic first aid kits cover the everyday minor injuries every household and workplace deals with — cuts, scrapes, blisters, burns, and minor wounds
  • These are not trauma kits; they prioritize broad coverage of common injuries with bandages, antiseptic wipes, gauze, and basic instruments
  • Choose based on use case (home, workplace, vehicle, travel) and piece count — most kits range from 100–250+ pieces

What Are Basic First Aid Kits?

Basic first aid kits are general-purpose medical supply kits built for the routine injuries that show up in everyday life: kitchen cuts, kids' scrapes, minor burns, blisters, splinters, and minor wound care. They're the kind of kit that lives in a kitchen drawer, vehicle glove box, or office break room — ready for the small stuff that happens regularly.

Unlike trauma kits built for severe bleeding or life-threatening injuries, basic kits prioritize broad coverage with bandages, antiseptic wipes, gauze, tape, and basic instruments (scissors, tweezers, gloves).

What's Inside This Collection

  • 100-piece waterproof kits — hard-case kits with broad component coverage
  • 131-piece all-purpose kits — expanded versions for households and small workplaces
  • General Purpose First Aid Kits — ViTAC's house-line basic kits with quality components and intuitive organization
  • Travel-sized basic kits — compact options for on-the-go everyday coverage

How to Choose a Basic Kit

1. Match Piece Count to Use Case
Solo or couple: 50–100 piece kits. Family or small office: 100–150 piece kits. Larger households or facilities: 200+ piece kits or multiple smaller kits.

2. Consider Storage Environment
Vehicle: waterproof or hard-case kits that tolerate temperature swings. Kitchen or office: organized soft-case or rigid kits with quick access. Outdoor or travel: compact, water-resistant kits.

3. Verify Quality Components
Avoid kits with low-grade adhesive bandages that don't stick, expired antiseptic, or flimsy instruments. Quality matters even at the basic kit level.

4. Plan to Restock
Basic kits get used. Set a quarterly inspection, restock used items, and rotate before expiration. Keep a refill stash on hand.

5. Consider Adding Trauma Capability
For higher-risk environments (workshop, vehicle, remote home), supplement basic kits with bleeding control supplies (tourniquet, hemostatic gauze, pressure dressing). Basic kits don't handle major trauma.

Who These Kits Are For (And Who They're Not For)

This is for you if: You're stocking a home, office, vehicle, or travel kit for everyday injuries. You want broad coverage of minor wounds without the bulk of trauma kits.

This may not be for you if: You need bleeding control or trauma capability (see Bleeding Control Kits or IFAK collections), or workplace-specific ANSI/ISEA compliance (see Workplace First Aid Kits).

Ready to Equip Your Space?

Browse the collection below for basic first aid kits sized for home, office, vehicle, and travel use. Every kit is curated for quality components and practical layout.
